1930's Vintage Patterns

A Decade of Transitions

Frances Langford, Hollywood Actress, 1930's

A decade flanked by two world events

The 1930's was a decade flanked by two major world events, the Great Depression with the crash of Wall Street in 1929 and the outbreak of World War II in 1939. Despite this, the 1930's was a time of glamour and modernity and an age of streamline designs.

A more mature, elegant, feminine woman emerged on the fashion scene following a progression of modesty changes that emerged in the late 1920's and the frivolous Jazz Age. The conservative mood of this era called for lower hemlines, leaner dresses, skirts with godet silhouettes and polished tailored suit looks.

Mooshi Couture has two Vogue couture patterns from this fashion period. The designs feature a bias construction that was popular at the time. These designs make a most elegant style for day or evening wear.
