I have finally received my first order of vintage clothing patterns from overseas. The patterns I have chosen are some of the most elegant and interesting styles I have seen from Vogue and couture designers from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s, such at Patou, Paquin and Lanvin Castillo. These patterns form only a small part of the vintage patterns I have collected over the years since I started sewing in my teens.
My private collection boasts a range of vintage patterns dating back to the 1970’s up to the 1990’s and early millennium. I will be recreating some of these patterns as well using new and vintage fabrics and haberdashery.
The majority of patterns I now purchase are in a large size so that I can personally check them for fit and of course add them to my sample wardrobe collection. I can grade or alter these patterns for custom orders or to a standard ready-to-wear size. Please check the MooshiMode Boutique for ready-to-wear vintage reproduction clothing I have for sale or drop me a line if you are interested in a custom order. Please also read my sizing page for information on the sizes I produce and my procedures, terms and conditions for custom orders.
Here are some photos of my growing collection of 20th century women’s vintage clothing patterns.
Paquin Vogue Pattern, 1953
This is a very interesting and innovative design from the 1950’s era of fashion. I have never seen a neckline designed like this before. It’s very smart and can be tailored for different occasions. It also offers a great way to secure an expensive scarf or shawl around the neck. The curved hemline is also typical of fashion from this era and very flattering.
Patou Vogue Pattern, 1960’s
This is a lovely 1960’s design with an ageless modern edge to it. It is a very flattering style for fuller shaped women. The combination of a narrow skirt and blouse with a wide collar and bell shaped sleeves draws the eyes up the silhouette whilst the sash helps emphasise the female form. Wear this over a fitted undergarment such as a power mesh corset to create the vintage elegance, poise and posture this timeless classical style deserves!
